Wahweap, Lake Powell- June 8, 2007
WARNING....Do not go to Lonerock beach in June! This was crazy.
I have never seen anything like this. Bumper to Bumper and I
am not exagerating. We showed up a couple days before everyone else
did. The boy scouts found our girls. The girls had fun jumping with
these boys until Kaitlyn had a little accident, she fell out of her swim
suit. That ended that.
Grandpa and Grandma bought a pontoon boat for this trip. He was so
excited. The boat ended up being a hunk of junk. He could not keep
it running and it didn't go very fast. Ryan took us through this little
canal, The waves were rough and deep. I honestly thought they were
going to sink it. At one point I made Mike turn around and see if they
were OK. I was watching them and all in a sudden they were gone.
When we found them they had water shooting up through the floor,
bags of potato chips were floating on the floor of the pontoon. The
aluminum railing was bent and broke. The boat was ruined and Grandpa
was madder than hell.
As far as the fishing, it was amazing. Between all of us we caught 120
stripped Bass. Ryan whipped up a fish fry, it was yummy.
Grandpa was pulling out people the entire trip. The sand was deep and
hot, it felt like a blast furnace. At one point of the trip it was well
over 110^. He ended up burning up his transmission. I was glad he brought
it, that's how we got out. We will be back but not in June.
